The Dragon from the Pechersk Hills

Deep beneath Kyiv, under the Pechersk hills, an ancient Dragon sleeps. The earth still remembers the times when there were neither churches nor walls. Old sorcerers whisper that he is an ancient force, locked in the body of a serpent-like spirit, wrapped in the roots of chestnut trees. Sometimes the underground hums, as if someone stirs in dreams. If he wakes up—something great will change. But for now, he sleeps. Kyiv breathes—and the dragon does too.
