Description

The handkerchief depicts the notes and lyrics of the song “Oh, don’t go, Hrytsyu” as a tribute to the creators of Ukrainian music who wrote, sang, and passed on folk songs to future generations. No nation in history has had as many songs as the Ukrainian people have created independently. Over 15,000 works have been included in the UNESCO Fund of Ukraine. Ukrainian folk songs are folklore works that are preserved in the public memory and are passed down from mouth to mouth. And most of the authors of these songs are unknown. “Oh, don’t go, Hrytsyu” was written by Marusya Churay, this song tells a story from her life: A girl loved a Cossack named Hrytsyu and poisoned this Cossack. As is known, in the summer of 1652, the Poltava court sentenced Marusya to death. Marusya Churai claimed at the trial that she had prepared the poison for herself and that the Cossack Hryts had accidentally drunk it. The scarf is presented in two sizes: S (52×52), M (82×82).
